Hi everyone,
Welcome to the first issue of my newsletter. I'll be keeping you up to date with what I have been doing over the past few months. This issue features new work, work in progress, and shows I have seen as well as upcoming shows that I'm keen to promote.
I am currently at the end of my 3 year Fine Art (BA Hons) degree at the University of Salford. These past 3 years have been the most important years of my life so far. My practice has come on leaps and bounds in this time with the support of my wonderful lecturers. Starting my degree during the Covid-19 pandemic was difficult but from that has come resillience. The bonds I have built despite the pandemic have been incredible. My practice would not be where it is without the support of my peers and staff at the university.
Degree Show Proposal
Here is the mock-up I included in my degree show proposal. It shows the way I plan to display my work in my degree show. The idea is a simple layout with the textiles on the wall and Levi the rat sat on a plinth infront of the textiles. I wanted to go with something simple but effective as to not over complicate the space.

Everybody Welcome Wes!
I'd like to introduce you to our new friend Wes the rat. He's been spending time with Levi the rat. They seem to be getting along just fine. I don't know about you, but after over a year I felt like it was about time Levi made a friend.
Art, Music, Pattern, Structure

In March, the exhibition 'Art, Music, Pattern, Structure' at The Stoller Hall in Manchester opened. This exhibition features myself and 4 other students from The School of Arts and Media at the University of Salford. Housed inside Chethams School of Music, The Stoller Hall is Manchester's premier concert space for music and performances, offering flawless acoustics in an intimate, 482-seat hall. Before entering The Stoller Hall you are met with the wonderful atrium, a space used for exhibitors and receptions. 'Art, Music, Pattern, Structure' is situated in the atrium for anyone entering The Stoller Hall to see. The show is comprised of fine art, photography and projection work. The opening night was a great event full of networking, discussions about the work, and a celebratory drink.
Recommendations
Here are some of the books I have been thoroughly enjoying over the past few months. One book that has been particularly valuable to my practice is 'Understanding Henri Lefebvre Theory and the Possible' by Stuart Elden. In this book Elden analyses Henri Lefebvre's work across politics, philosophy, history, literature and culture in a clear and accessible way. This book introduced me to Lefebvre's ideas surrounding the everyday and contributed to the theory that underpins my practice. So if you're into that kind of thing it's worth a read.
Save the date!
My cohort has spent 3 years building up to our degree show which will open on the 25th of May. It will be situated in the New Adelphi building at the University of Salford on the 6th floor. We hope to see you there!

Finally, thank you for reading my first newsletter. I hope you have enjoyed finding out what I've been doing recently. That's all for now, see you next time!
